Tonal concept Sketches for the Brain world- Group number 3.

This week I stayed in the same world but y group changed a little. The updated group is Sudipta, Matthias, Caitlin and Becca. As there where new comers to the group it was Caitlin and I' responsibility to explain the world and to catch everyone up to speed with what work we have collectively produced.

Task: Create tonal concept art as if a camera was in your world. Use 5 or less tones ranging from black to white.

The lobes was again split for this task so I decided to stay will Tempora as I loved its layout.

I struggled with this task as I'm not the best at digital drawing I still need a lot of practice. It was difficult finding light and depth in each drawing.

Low Angle depicts the great height and memories these pillars contain.

Long shot - inside one of the pillars appears as if your outside due to the flora and fauna growing inside.

Extreme Long shot showcasing the journey of the bridges that connect each pillar together.

Establishing shot of the landscape within Tempora.

Mid Shot showing one of the smaller bridges made out of books - the memories in these books are considered to be not as important so the books are put to good use by the habitants.

The feedback we got on our group work was valid as all of our work was very personal and separate. It was clear we weren't working together as a group and that we all need to focus on one part of the brain together.

Next week Introducing colour.

Taking the feedback of last weeks into consideration, as a group we decided to focus on The caverns of confusion. The caverns are a factor in the final demise of the brain and it hadn't been focused on much in the past so that was our reasoning for selecting it.

Cool Studies:

I really struggled to make light apparent in these concept sketches.

Long shot - leading to the exit of one of the caverns.

Establishing shot the path leading to the eerie caverns of confusion. I still felt as though I hadn't quite mastered the tonal studies so I wanted to still experiment with this one.

Establishing shot of the gravity water tubes.

In one of the group meetings Sudipta came up with the interesting idea of the memories being carried inside water, that are contain in a gravity created tube. Then I added to his idea by stating that the reason for it being called the caverns of confusion is that the miners inside these caverns have to go round collecting the books containing the memories - so the gravity turns off and on, lifting and dropping the books in different places each time therefore making it confusing for the miners.

Long shot - deep inside a cavern looking for light.

I like how this one turned out due to the hint of yellow light within the cool blues.

Warm Studies:

Extreme Long shot - exciting a cavern using red tones.

Long shot - peeking outside.

The exterior structure of the caverns.

Establishing shot - the water flowing from different caverns.

Overall, our communication in this group could have improved as we all were not on the same page.

Intober.

This was a really fun experiment for me as I never really used pen and ink when drawing before. I found it quite challenging in the beginning but soon came enjoyed it. Some days were harder than others to come up with an idea but honestly found this beneficial as it challenged my creativity. In the beginning I wanted to set a theme between each corresponding page, so that they look like them some what belong together.
